“It’s not good enough.” Maddoc’s low growl burned the back of his throat. “I want to know what the fuck she was doing all night. And I want to know today!” The fury in him roiled at the thought she might have been anywhere near the duke last night. Thankfully, her heat wasn’t due for weeks. If there were any chance of it arriving while she was in the duke’s possession, he would have stormed in and collected her, regardless of the consequences—though those consequences would likely include the opportunity to kill the duke.

“We’ve always been very careful not to betray those who provide us with information,” Raine said carefully. “We’ve never asked them to do anything that will reveal their allegiance with us. It may be they are unable or unwilling to give us that information—”

Wow. What a great conclusion to Maddoc and Ana's heartbreaking story. I have to admit I wasn't Maddoc's biggest fan after the first one and there were so many secrets and things up in the air! At the end of this one I was his biggest fan! But this brought a wonderful ending to most of the story, while leaving an opening for more books. Definitely dark so mind ya triggers

An epic continuation of a Savage Debt. The first book ending was so thrilling that I couldn't wait to start with this one. There is something about Zoey Ellis writing that always captures me. If you are up for a good fantasy omega verse story filled with romance, adventure and spice, this is definitely a book for you!

Ana is convinced to leave the palace by her fiance, convinced they need to marry immediately and take the crown from her father. But every time he comes close to her, she can’t help but feel repulsion, which was so unlike the way she felt with Maddoc. She can’t wrap her head around the fact that her fiance is supposed to be her fated mate, and yet she feels a stronger connection to another Alpha.

When Maddoc realizes that Ana has left the palace, he makes a new deal with the king, if he finds her first, he will keep her. He has built an entire life around the future he has planned with his mate, now he just needs to convince her that’s what she is.

I really enjoyed this book. After the cliffhanger ending of book 1, I jumped into this one immediately. I actually really liked how the first book was almost entirely from Ana’s perspective, because then when we got to this one, we learn everything that Maddoc was hiding before. Understanding what he was really doing, and why just made me fall for him right from the beginning.
